Under the supervision of the miner and on-site supervisors, the Mobile Underground Equipment Mechanic performs maintenance and repair work. The Mechanic searches for the root cause of problems by performing diagnostics. They perform a variety of repairs on mechanical, hydraulic and electrical equipment. He proposes modifications to improve the reliability of underground mobile equipment. He/she performs impeccable, safe and high quality work aiming at the customer's complete satisfaction.

Main responsibilities:

  • Respect at all times the safety standards;
  • Ensure preventive maintenance on all equipment;
  • Verify the operation of the equipment;
  • Determine the nature of defects and failures in order to determine the extent of repairs to be made;
  • Install, adjust, disassemble and move parts, in accordance with standards, using hand and power tools;
  • Test repaired equipment to ensure proper operation and repair;
  • Clean and lubricate equipment and perform other routine maintenance
  • Maintain attachments and work tools;
  • Diagnose and perform inspections, general maintenance and electrical and hydraulic repairs;
  • Reads blueprints, diagrams and schematics to determine procedures;
  • Operates lifting devices and equipment to place parts during installation, assembly and repair of machinery;
  • Report all accidents and incidents to the supervisor;
  • All other related duties.

Job Requirements :

  • Possess a DEP in construction equipment mechanics or other equivalent training, relevant experience in construction equipment mechanics may substitute for the academic requirement;
  • Experience in underground mobile equipment mechanics;
  • Be bilingual (English/French);
  • Have a minimum of 5 years experience in underground mobile equipment mechanics;
  • Have a valid Quebec driver's license;
  • Hold a valid general explosives permit;
  • Have an impeccable customer approach;
  • Enjoy working in a team;
  • Be meticulous, autonomous and have the ability to work under pressure;
  • Have the modular training of the mining worker (FMTM), module 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7;
  • CCQ card, ASP Construction and Red seal are considered assets.

 

Working conditions:

  • 14 day work schedule followed by 14 days off, 12 hours of work per day;
  • Fly-in/fly-out;
  • Northern bonus;
  • Salary according to experience, between $96,000.00 and $120,000.00 annually, including northern premium and time and a half;
  • Overtime (rate and a half) after 40 hours of work per week;
  • Hotel room paid by the company for travel to the airport;
  • Lodging and food provided;
  • Reimbursement of mileage to pay for travel to the airport, you must be able to get to the Mirabel or Val-d'Or airport on your own;

Under the supervision of the Mechanic Foreman, the Mechanic performs maintenance and repairs on construction equipment, heavy trucks and mobile equipment for various clients. The Mechanic performs various repairs on mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical equipment. He proposes modifications to improve the reliability of the equipment. He performs impeccable, safe and high quality work aiming at the customer's complete satisfaction. 

Main responsibilities:

  • Respect safety standards at all times;
  • Ensure preventive maintenance on all equipment;
  • Determine the nature of defects and failures in order to determine the extent of repairs to be made;
  • Carry out a complete repair report and find the cause of failure for each problem encountered;
  • Adjust, repair and/or replace defective parts;
  • Test the repaired equipment to ensure that it works and that the repairs meet ACE's requirements;
  • Clean and lubricate equipment and perform other routine maintenance;
  • Meet established deadlines to complete repairs;
  • Notify immediate supervisor and/or customer of all required repairs to units;
  • When work is completed, sign work order, credit unused parts and assemble all required documentation (outside purchases, etc.) and forward to supervisor for billing processing;
  • Verify the operation of the equipment;
  • Ensure the maintenance of accessories and work tools;
  • Read plans, diagrams and schematics to determine how to proceed;
  • Any other related duties.

Job Requirements :

  • Hold a DEP in heavy duty mechanics or any other equivalent training, relevant experience in heavy duty mechanics can replace the academic requirement;
  • Have a minimum of 5 to 10 years experience in heavy duty mechanics;
  • Have advanced technology skills (diagnostics/laptop search);
  • Hold a valid Quebec driver's license with no conditions or restrictions;
  • Hold a valid general explosives permit;
  • Have a good customer approach and be able to work in a team;
  • Be meticulous, autonomous and have the ability to work under pressure;
  • Have a good sense of initiative;
  • The CCQ card, the ASP Construction and the modular training of the mining worker (FMTM) are considered as assets.

Working conditions:

  • 14 day work schedule followed by 14 days off, 12 hour work day, variable day and night rotation;
